Last week my daughter called and asked if I could make Madison a bonnet for Easter. I found the most adorable pattern on the net. A woman named Dot Matthews had posted it on her blog, along with many other free patterns of her own designs. I fell in love with the style but it wasn't exactly what I had pictured. I wanted something with a ruffle, so I toyed around with the pattern and revised it to fit the occasion. Since this pattern is crochet, it only took about two hours tops to make and I made two. Both with Bernat soft baby yarn in soft mauve and white.
For my next crochet project, I'd like to make Dot's Lil' Darlin' Baby Sweater to go with these cute little, granny baby styled bonnets.
Guaranteed to put a smile on your loved one.

The Poncho is a fairly simple project to put together. This piece is missing the unworked pocket still in the works. I don't think I'll be making any more ponchos.
The neckline is so narrow, I barely got it over the model's head. What? Okay, her ears are a little larger, kinda.
I could suggest adding the snaps. It does tend to spin around in all directions. My initial intentions were to create matching leg warmers.
Any thoughts?
